Wifi Yagi Antenna
A Yagi Antenna is a strong wireless antenna (802.11 protocol and finely tuned for 2.4 ghz). The Yagi antenna was invented in 1926 by Shintaro Uda of Japan. The Yagi antenna was first widely applied during WWII on allied aircraft radar.
Yagi Wifi antennas are particularly interesting for 3 major reasons:
1- They are especially tuned to get the strongest signal possible from WiFi 2.4ghz bandwidth.
2- They are designed to be installed with a WiFi router so one can connect to far away signals and then repeat this signal throughout your home or office.
3- Special weather resistant coatings ensure long service.
Combine the Yagi antenna with a basic low cost router loaded with free opensource firmware and the router transforms into a $600 professional full featured router.
Some of the more interesting features are as follows:
1-You can use your firmware enhanced router as a repeater, so you can retransmit the output of the yagi antenna throughout your home or, send your personal WiFi Connection to a distant location.
2- You can install a number of routers throughout a diverse area, and then link them together to form a WiFi umbrella throughout a large area.
3- The router firmware allows you to tweak the emission strength of the router by a factor of 8!
